Oluaka Institute in partnership with CLEEN Foundation will host #ElectionInnov8 Hackathon on Innovations that will enhance free, fair and credible 2019 election on November 23 – 26, 2018
CLEEN Foundation is an organization with a mission to promote public safety, security and justice through empirical research, legislative advocacy, demonstration programmes and publications in partnership with government, civil society and the private sector.
CLEEN foundation founded Oluaka Institute as an approach to promote public safety and security. The Hackathon is part of the program to celebrate 20 years anniversary of CLEEN Foundation and commissioning of Oluaka Institute. Series of events will hold from November 20 to December 1, 2018.
Participants with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and skillsets will form teams and create solutions that will enhance free and credible 2019 election in Nigeria.
Some of the issues identified are:
1. Security during the election
3. Vote Rigging
4. Lack of education among citizens
5. Lack of election financing regulations
There will be a 1-day Bootcamp for shortlisted participants to connect prior to the hackathon. learn new concepts, strategies, and other useful skills.
The finalist from the Hackathon will win cash prizes and Incubation support to drive their innovation.
First prize: 300,000
Second Price: 200,000
Third Prize: 100,000.
This hackathon is being organized by Heartland Incubation Hub – a venture of Oluaka Institute. Heartland Incubation Hub was established to solve the problem of the inadequate support structure, mentorship system for incubating, or developing business ideas by young people in south-east Nigeria.
Heartland incubation Hub recently concluded an accelerator program in partnership with a Finland Based organization (Slush GIA) Slush Global impact accelerator where over 12 startups participated and launched HIH Launchpad, a program for idea stage entrepreneurs to validate their idea and have the opportunity to start working on their world-changing Idea.
